I’m a heavy Gmail user and I love it on my desktop. It took awhile to get used to doing all my mail in the browser, but Gmail is, without question, the fastest way to manage large amounts of email bar none. On my iPhone however, I still use iOS Mail because Gmail for iOS just isn’t there yet.
Here are the top three reasons I don’t use Gmail for iOS.
1. The font is too small
For some reason Google won’t allow us to adjust the font size in Gmail for iOS, and the default is too small. It looks like at least one or two sizes smaller than the font in iOS Mail.
2. HTML emails don’t zoom
Google’s handling of HTML emails is odd in iOS. Apple zooms the email nicely to make it look nice on the iPhone. For some reason Google doesn’t handle HTML emails as well.
3. My signature appears below two dashes
Google won’t give me the option to see my signature while I’m typing my email. That bothers me. My signature also shows up after two dashes. I don’t like that.
If Google would solve these issues for me I would give Gmail for iOS a try as my full time iPhone email client. Until then, I’m sticking to iOS Mail.
What about you? What do you use for email?
